In no particular order.
Port knocking
Firewall FAQ
mjr
Vulnerability Scanning
...with a Mac
Civil liberties vs. national security (American)
"Return on Seatbelt Investment" and other tidbits
IP Multicast (don't ask)
Why Microsoft won
Honeyd
Firewall wizards (damn there is some good stuff in here, I might even subscribe rather than troll the archives)
I'm not letting people post comments anymore. If you want to contact me, email me. In fact, since I really don't particularly like blogging, I migh toast the whole website and in its place leave a smoking crater used mainly for publishing photos to my family. I'm not big on "posting" my "thoughts" and having people "read" them.
EDIT: Missed a good one:
Packetfactory, specifically their Firewalking project

So yeah, I didn't make a post about a single game this season. Why? I just didn't particularly feel like it. Even though there were a few people reading them, I just didn't feel compelled to do it anymore.
Not that it wasn't a good season. It was. There were some awesome games. Even though we didn't make the playoffs we're a better team for it. A few solid new guys joined the squad, and though we are grateful that they joined us, we expect a lot from them moving forward. I'm looking at you Gent, Rob, Steve, Craig, and 'Relax, Don't Do It'.
I was captain of our side again for the entire season. I won't lie: I feel proud that I'm the captain. But I feel guilty sometimes because I don't think I'm doing as good a job as I could. Like some of the captains I've played under. Particularly Jafo. He didn't really say much, but led by example. I took comfort in just being on the pitch with him. I don't know what the coach thought of me. I don't usually ask. I'm probably just afraid of the answer.
I think I was a better player this year. I played every game, coming off in only two: One because the game was already over, needed to give some new guys some minutes, and another because I was actually hurt. Heh, I even scored two tries this year. The first was during the first game of the season, ran in a quick penalty. The second was, I think, during the last game of the season. Ran over a guy and made a dramatic dive for the line. There was no question. A lock's try if there ever was one. One for the books, and I'll never forget it. We lost that game.
My shoulder was great this year. All year long. Hitting people was fine. Not bad for someone who could barely do a single push-up last January. No, the two things that causes me pain this year were a right hamstring contusion, which hurt like crazy and required extra attention for weeks afterward. And a severe lower (and I mean LOW) abdomen muscle strain. My physio thinks maybe the extra stiffness in my right hamstring caused me to overcompensate and strain my abdomen. For about 2 months, I couldn't even sneeze without completely doubling over in pain. Even now, its still tender and I have to grab my legs with my hands to pull myself up from a horizontal position. Other than than, two broken fingers rounds out the list. I'm scheduled to see a specialist about one of them, because its a little disfigured. Probably some tendon damage.
While there were a lot of great things about this season, we can't keep fielding a single 1st division team. Its hard to introduce people to the game when all you have is 1st div match ups. Not to mention the silly fixtures that the ERU are doing. No, I think we need to do what's best for the club, and until numbers are back up to where we need them, go back to 2nd division. We gave it a shot. But its time to think long term.
Thats about all that happened on the rugby front this summer. Hehe, who am I kidding? Rugby is the only thing that happens for me during the summer. I'm looking forward to relaxing for the next few months, giving back some time to my wife and kids. Maybe lift a few weights and go for a run now and then. My knees don't like it, but who asked them anyway.
Cheers.

I'm now the proud owner of the domain: seantindall.com. This site can now be accessed via http://www.seantindall.com. The old URL (http://thebigshow.phathookups.com) will work until later this year, when I don't renew my subscription at http://www.ods.org.
Along with the new name will come a site redesign, however I have a bunch of other stuff on the go at the moment, and the redesign will have to sit on the back burner. In the meantime, if you are still using the ugly ORANGE theme, look to your right and select a different them from the drop down menu. I like "Minimal" and I pretty much use it all the time.
Who the hell knows _what_ I was thinking with all the orange....

It makes for some interesting breakfast conversation when your kids decide to start identifying with Decepticons.
"Megatron, would you like some more juice?"
"Soundwave, please stop pulling Megatron's hair."
While they are two young to realize it, I consider it endlessly ironic that its the younger brother that has become Megatron, and the older brother that has decided to be called Soundwave (one of Megatron's minions). When asked about this, the oldest simply replied, "'Cuz he has a gun on his shoulder." Come to think of it, thats a pretty damned good reason.
But the best part is that they've decided to dub their mom "Starscream". I wonder if she'll agree to wipe Megatron's bum.

Well then. It has come to my attention that some of you, and you know who you are, have stumbled across this web site in search of thick, black asses:

No, that's not a spelling mistake. I can't imagine where anyone would find such a thing, but I do know that you won't find any of it here. At least, I hope not....

I finally got around to sorting through the several CDs of pictures taken by Grandad over the last year. The highlights have been posted on the family page. My picture management is currently pretty simple, just a big list of pictures at the moment. The new stuff starts on Euan's last birthday, on 2004/05/06. Have a look!
I'm starting to realize again that the content on my site needs a major overhaul. There's still too much static information (meaning: information that must be updated manually) for my liking. Time permitting, I'll be looking into a better photo system and possibly a new blog system. Stay tuned. Or not.
